Of course, there's no reasoning with Chris when his mind is set to something, and he had glommed on to the fear porn that was playing on the news everyday like a floaty thrown to a drowning man in the middle of the Atlantic ocean. His paranoia was beginning to cut into my livelihood. Still, the horde in the back continued to mound, and I had been burning through more money than I cared to on hotel rooms. As we rode together that coming week, him huffing air through his filter, and me doubting the impending catastrophic severity of the surefire apocalypse that he assured me lay just around the corner, it was very terse and words were sparse. Fortunately, I no longer have to ride with Chris.Ĭhris never forgave me for throwing a fit in the middle of his toilet paper horde. Then, despite my best efforts to make him act like a human being, to make him observe normal human social conventions, to make him stop being so damn cringe, it was all in vain. No longer beholden to his job, Chris would find himself free to do Chris things. Things were usually okay when Chris was driving, usually being the operative word, but when his shift would come to an end and I would take the wheel, or worse yet, when we would pull over for the evening, then the real fun would begin. Chris and I both worked for a trucking company - a major one at that - and we would take turns driving our big rig down the road. He is a retrograde coomgoblin, content to dwell in his own dark triad of anime, lot lizards, and meth. Who is Chris? Chris is a very fat and sweaty man, surrounded by an imepentrable aura of poopycum stinkystank. Hey there ReddX gang, it looks like I finally got a little bit more time to write, so let's not wait any longer and get into another story about Chris. This is the first design, can be mounted in almost any orientation! Should I consider just saying screw it and toss the whole stack back? Yeah, stupid, I know, but it really does bug me. The smaller Heresy disrupts the symmetry of my workspace. Further research, however, suggested the Jotenheim 2 had problems of its own with noise and wasn't great in SE (which is how my headphones terminate) Continuing to use my perfectly functional Heresy isn't an ideal option for me for a couple of stupid reasons: I dislike the small, unsatisfying volume knob and my headphone amp and Gjallarhorn sit on opposite sides of my wall mounted TV with my modius mounted out of sight underneath the desk. Do I consider the Asgard's problems a fluke defective unit and ask for an exchange? Is this somehow related to my system even though the Heresy doesn't have the problem? I'd briefly considered getting the Jotenheim 2 since it opens the possibility for monoblock on the Gjallarhorn later. I'm nearing the end of my return policy so I need to make a call here. I can even switch to speakers while the problem is happening and it clears right up. It only happens when the Asgard is acting as a headphone amp. ![]() Preamp out from the Asgard to the Gjallarhorn does not have this problem. Switching the RCAs from my Asgard to my Heresy completely eliminates the noise and the Heresy does not develop it after any amount of use. Lately, however, my Asgard 3 will develop a low level static after an hour of use. I plugged them in and they were great with some technical issues that weren't the Schiit's fault (other than not mentioning that the ESS chip doesn't work with Samsung and LG TV optical outs due to a fault with the TVs). I ordered a brand new Asgard 3, Modius, and Gjallarhorn. So I thought I had my new office figured out.
